I have been dining there for approximately 25 years. I mostly go for luncheon. The food is a tasted filled treat. I have tried many of their items , yet l just get my favourite. The # 9 ... the Mateo. Fried burrito bites, salad and Spanish rice. It is delicious. They give you complimentary salsa and chips and a small bowl of bean soup. The soup is such a nice treat. The price is reasonable and the atmosphere is pleasant. You can see the town square and gazebo. Come by and experience a taste of Mexico in downtown Mesquite.
If you are looking for good homemade food, this is your place to eat. AMAZING! I would come back and try new things. Their sour cream enchiladas were NOT a disappointment ! If you are in the Mesquite area, try it out!!!
Antonio, Nora, and Adrian are 3 of the best people you'd ever want to meet and greet! This restaurant makes you feel like family. Food is wonderful and the people that work there are even better! Shout out to the kitchen staff for some of my favorite meals here! Barbacoa plate, Chilaquiles, Menudo, and the enchiladas!
I ordered the fajita taco salad. It was very tasty. My husband ordered the three enchilada plate and he really enjoyed all three flavors
2nd time here since we heard they have new owners, it was the same. The menudo had no flavor and and the pork chops had a fishy flavor, the taco de salsa I made was way better. I do NOT recommend this place, don't think we'll be back.
I could probably get over the hair I found in the salsa and the foil wrapper I found in my bf's food if the food tasted better. EDIT: I originally posted this a year and a half to 2 years ago. The food is delicious today. Not sure if there is a new cook, but it was good.
The food was good and decently priced..but agter going to the bathroom and seeing the hallway and bathroom i was disgusted and sat outside to eat. i'm just trying to figure out why mesquite restaurants have no ambiance, beautiful decorations, or sense of appeal for an uptown Dallas feel. There is money in Mesquite, Sunnyvale, and Forney, yet the restaurants are mediocre. MOST THE PEOPLE IN THESE CITIES TRAVEL TO OTHER AREAS OF DALLAS AND SPEND THEIR MONEY THERE INSTEAD OF THEIR OWN COMMUNITY. THERE are no sexy, hip restaurants in these areas... and the chamber of commerce should be ashamed.. why is there not a Brazialian steakhouses, arabic foods, and Mediterranean food in these areas?
We decided on this placed based on the reviews and pictures of the food. Unfortunately, our first visit fell short. Three different people came to our table for three different times which included: taking our order, bringing food, and picking up our plates, so we didn’t know who was our designated server. We had to ask twice for a drink refill and three times for an order we placed in the beginning, to-go after we were done eating. The check never came either and after waiting 20-25mins, we just got up and approached the checkout. Even then, we had to wait a while before someone finally checked us out, but as soon as one of the servers saw us, she finally remembered our to-go order and brought that to us as we paid. Aside from the bad service, that food was okay. My beans and rice were pretty tasty and so was the horchata but that was it.
